Dyson DC18 Do I Turn The Brush Off

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

Every Dyson upright vacuum comes with what brush control, or the ability to turn your brush heads on and off. Many of the models have a button right next to the power switch above the canister and others have them right by the handle to make turning the brushes off more conveniently.

I seem to be running into the question a lot…

When should I turn the brushes off when vacuuming with my Dyson DC18, DC25, or [Insert Model Number Here].

Well the actual answer is pretty simple: whenever you want or feel it is necessary to protect a surface or when you want the brush to help you pick something up.

But, I am sure that is not the answer you are looking for so let’s look at why Dyson made it possible for you to turn off the brush.

The purpose behind turning off the brush is to protect surfaces that you wouldn’t want to use a brush on. The brush itself does not affect the suction power of the vacuum meaning that you that your DC18 or DC24 Ball or whatever model you have is still going to work the same as when the brush is on.

So what surfaces might you want to protect? Well most of the time I turn the brush off when I am vacuuming my hardwood floors and some of my harder rugs because I don’t want to leave any scratch marks on them, or take the chance of pulling out any threads that keep it bound together.

But I might suggest that you consider turning the brush off when you are also vacuuming your ceramic or laminate flooring. Like I mentioned before the vacuum will have the same amount of suction available as when the brushes are on, but now you won’t take the chances of leaving any unwanted wear and tear marks on your floor. Plus if you find that you have a mess that you need the brushes help with you can always turn in back on for a quick second before proceeding to the rest of the floor.

I hope that answers the question of Dyson DC18 Do I Turn The Brush Off When…?

Dyson Patents and Technology

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Technology has brought a lot of change to our lives; cars can tell you where to go, they can call for help if you’ve had an accident, and some can even stop themselves from having accidents. And while technological change can easily be seen in the automotive and computer industries technology is not something that you generally think about when you are buying a small home appliance like a vacuum cleaner.

James Dyson and the engineers at the Dyson corporation on the other hand are constantly working to create new technology to make their vacuum cleaners stronger and more productive.

Dyson is probably the market leader for research and development in the vacuum cleaner field as they are always creating new ideas on how to make the vacuum work better. James Dyson had over 5000 prototypes made before he every successfully manufactured his first Dyson cleaner.

His hard work has paid off.

The Dyson Ltd. corporation are currently proud owners of nearly 1000 patents for the technology that they put in their upright, canister vacuum cleaners, and their hand dryer.

The design vacuum cleaner is equipped with the Dyson patented motor, the Dyson Patented Cyclone and now many of the new upright models are being equipped with the Dyson patented ball technology.

As you can see just from that brief introduction the Dyson technology spans a wide area of application. The motor for power, the cyclone for great suction that will never be lost, and the ball for the swift and flexible movements needed to make vacuuming a little bit easier.

The Dyson is a modern marvel in vacuum technology a feet not many other companies can say the have accomplished. Their insistence to improve the vacuum cleaners performance along with great engineering has given them a huge market advantage as the hold the key “or patent” to many great technologies.

Dyson DC24 vs. DC25

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Comparing Dyson models is often one of the most frequently addressed problems consumers find themselves having because of how well Dyson’s compare to other vacuum cleaners. The question isn’t what brand of vacuum the should look at, but what model Dyson will suit their needs the most.

The Dyson DC24 vs. DC25 is quite the popular search meaning that people really want to know more about these Dyson Ball vacuums. Well the good news is I am here to give you the scoop, but the bad news is these to vacuums are very very similar so the comparison is going to be quite short.

The Dyson DC24 vs. The Dyson DC25:

I guess this comparison really comes back to the age old question; does size really matter? For some it does for others it doesn’t but that is really the only question you can ask when comparing these two vacuum cleaners.

The Dyson DC24 and Dyson DC25 upright vacuum cleaners are sisters maybe even twins because when it comes to everything accept size they are exactly the same.

Both vacuum cleaners are equipped with Dyson’s Cyclone technology, both are upright vacuum cleaners with lifetime hepa filters, both are equipped with the Dyson ball technology, both have a 5 year warranty, both are all floor vacuum cleaners with push button brush control, and both have a extending wand for reaching the high areas and tight corners.

So what makes them different? Size.

I own the DC24 and it is perfect for my 850 square foot house, my dad on the other hand has a lot more space that I do and he is using the DC25 in his monster of a home.

The DC24 is perfect for people that need a vacuum that is more easily stored, a vacuum that can get the job done quickly without having to lug around a full size vacuum, and for those that have small houses.

The DC25 on the other hand stands a little bit taller and has a larger canister which is great for full size or larger houses. If you have a large room with a lot of carpet you will probably find yourself needing to empty the canister on the DC24 more than once while with the 25 you would be set to do the whole room.

Did This Help?

If you are looking to compare Dyson vacuum cleaners I would actually suggest reading our other Dyson Comparisons as they will be much more helpful that this comparison.

I would recommend not looking at two models that are so similiar in their features and styling.

Consider the following articles instead.

Dyson DC17 vs. Dyson DC 25

Before I dive into my assessment on which of the Dyson DC models is the better of the two I highly recommend you take some time to read the more detailed explanations of the individual vacuums that I have written about each model as they might be a better indicator of which vacuum is right for you.

More information on the Dyson DC17 and the Dyson DC25.

About the Dyson DC17 & DC25:

The Dyson DC17 & DC25 are both upright models in Dyson’s range of vacuum cleaners. Each vacuum is offered in both the Dyson Animal and the Dyson Asthma and Allergy styles. They are both also equipped with a life-time HEPA filter, finger tip brush control, extending wand, hygienic canister, 5 year warranty of parts and service, and an ergonomic handle for carrying.

What makes the two vacuum cleaners different is the new techonology that has been added the the DC25. The DC25 is equipped with the Dyson Ball technology that make a vacuum easy to move in it’s nature. Most vacuums are on a rigid frame that only allows for forward and backward movements, and the DC25 isn’t. The Dyson Ball lets you move in any direction by simply turning your wrist the direction that you want to go.

Dyson DC17 vs. Dyson DC25 Results:

The Dyson DC25 Ball vacuum cleaner is the cleaner that I would prefer to own because I love the Dyson Ball technology. Both vacuum cleaners come in Dyson Animal and Dyson Asthma and Allergy Models, Both are equipped with the Dyson Cyclone technology, and both have the hygienically easy to empty canister, meaning that the vacuums actually have very few differences in the way the operate and pick up dirt and dust.

The decision to go with the DC25 is then completely based on my personal enjoyment of the ball technology that makes maneuverability easy. I currently am using the Dyson DC24 in my home which is the DC25′s little brother. The DC24 is an exact replica of the DC25 but it is smaller in stature. With my experience using the ball I have found that is does everything that they say it does and anybody that has a tight space or a lot of furniture could really benefit from using it.

However choosing the right Dyson for you can be a difficult tasks as each model has great benefits and could possess the trait that you need, so I suggest you keep looking and maybe even check out our comparison of the DC18 Slim vs the DC25.

Cleaning Your Dyson DC18

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

Cleaning your Dyson DC18 or any of the Dyson upright vacuum cleaners is quite simple for a few reasons. The first being that Dyson has made dismantling and reassembling their vacuums very easy with push button releases. The second being the the time intervals between cleanings are much longer than those of normal upright vacuum cleaners.

But where do we start?

Well let’s do that basics first. Unlike most bag less vacuum cleaners you don’t have to break your Dyson down and clean every inch of it every time you use it. The only per use cleaning I would recommend doing to cleaning out the canister as it fills up.

How to Clean Your Dyson’s Canister?

  1. Unplug it. Always unplug your vacuum before removing any of its components
  2. Release the canister from the vacuum by pressing the button on the top of the ergonomic handle.
  3. Place the canister above the trash receptacle, with the bottom of the canister surrounded by the bag / can so no debris can escape elsewhere.
  4. Pres the release button on the top of the ergonimic handle again to release the bottom of the canister.
  5. Gently tap the canister until any remaining dirt/dust falls from the canister
  6. Close the canister’s bottom lid and place it back on the vacuum.

Cleaning out the canister should be your routine, but what about cleaning the filter? The Dyson filter is located in the lid of the canister so many of the steps are going to seem familiar to you already. The best part about cleaning the filter on your Dyson DC18 or any Dyson vacuum is that it only has to be done once every 3-6 months.

How to Clean Your Dyson’s HEPA Filter?

  1. Unplug it. Always unplug your vacuum before removing any of its components
  2. Release the canister from the vacuum by pressing the button on the top of the ergonomic handle.
  3. Release The Canister’s lid by pressing the catch release located toward the top of the canister.
  4. Pull the filter up by the tab to remove it from the vacuum.
  5. Soak in cold water for 5 minutes or more. Do not use any detergent, soap, or a washing machine
  6. Let the filter dry for 12 hours. Do not use a dryer, flame, microwave, or oven to dry the filter.
  7. Put the filter back in the vacuum, but make sure it is completely dry.
  8. Close the canister’s bottom lid and place it back on the vacuum.

There are not many components on a vacuum cleaner that need to be cleaned in order to keep it running great, but one that is often over looked is the cleaners brush. If you are noticing that your brush is getting stuck during vacuuming it mind be time to take a look at it and see if there is any hair clogging it up. You can easily remove the hair with your finger tips as their is really no other way to get it out.

Cleaning your brushes and hoses isn’t required but if you see them getting dirty and clogging up it won’t hurt to clean them with some water. Remember to always make sure your vacuum is unplugged and you never reconnect any parts or accessories that may still be wet.

Dyson Parts And Accessories

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Dyson offers a wide range of parts and accessories to accompany their vacuums cleaners. They offer model specific attachments, a line of generic parts that work on all of their models, and even different cleaning supplies.

In this article we will look at mainly their generic parts and accessories and their cleaning supplies as I will be saving the model specific parts for their individual reviews.

Remember though that you may not need to purchase any of these if they were included with your vacuum to begin with and broke. As you Dyson came with a 5 years warranty that covers and parts and services.

However if you are looking for the tools to make the job easier then you have found the right place.

Dyson Part & Accessories:

Dyson 36 Flexi Crevice Tool – The Dyson Flexi Crevice tool is an attachment that fits on all Dyson upright and canister vacuum cleaners. It allows for flexible and adjustable reach to get the difficult to reach places like behind the couch.

Dyson Mattress Tool – The Dyson Mattress tool is great for removing dust and dirt from your mattress or upholstery. It has a wide head make cleaning easy, it is lightweight, and they Dyson Mattress tools works on all Dyson Models.

Dyson Soft Dusting Brush – The Dyson Soft Dusting Brush is probably my favorite Dyson Accessory. The dusting brush is great for cleaning fan blades, blinds, and even your keyboard. The accessory works by pulling air through light brushes creating good suction and a soft brush to clean the gentle surfaces.

Dyson Stiff Bristle Brush – The Dyson Stiff Bristle Brush is for the stubborn job. Don’t use this brush on anything delicate and be sure to read you users guide as this brush is not recommend for use on carpet or rugs.

Dyson 122 Multi-Angle Brush Attachment – The Dyson Multi-Angle brush is a dust killer because it makes cleaning the areas you would normally skip possible. I know you already use your wand to collect the dust from fan blades and he ceiling corners, but reaching the tops of the blades and cabinets is almost impossible. Well the neck joints on the multi-angle brush makes it not only possible but easy to do.

Dyson’s parts and accessories don’t stop with vacuum cleaner attachments, they also have several different cleaning products and solutions.

Dyson Dyzolv Spot Cleaner – The spot cleaner is exactly what it sounds like. You have used many different cleaners in your life for when the dog has tracked mud into the house, when the kids have spilled kool-aid or when you dropped a chicken wing, but the Dyson Dyzolv is the best. It is made to remove dirt, food, drinks and grease while remaining Ph neutral.

Dyson Zorb Carpet Maintenance Powder – Dyzon Zorb Carpet Maintenance acts as a sponge for dirt. What you do is sprinkle it on your floors and it absorbs the dirt making it easier to pick up with your vacuuming. Great for floors with a lot of traffic as dirt can often get buried into them. Just sprinkle it on and vacuum it up with a Dyson Upright Vacuum cleaner.

Dyson DC25 Vs Dyson DC18 Slim

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

Comparing two vacuum cleaners can be a difficult thing to do because one vacuum cleaner can be so different from the next. But to make life harder you have asked to compare two vacuums from the same company. I say it is harder because we are comparing two vacuum cleaners that are almost identical… but I promised to bring you the best Dyson Information so lets get started.

Dyson DC25 vs. Dyson DC18 Slim

First lets take a brief look at each cleaner and what it has to offer.

The Dyson DC25 Ball Vacuum Cleaner is an upright vacuum that comes in two seperate models the DC25 Animal, and the DC25 All Floors.  Each model is equipped with the Dyson Cyclone technology that guarantees to never lose suction, and a fingertip controlled brush head to turn your brushes on and off as needed.  The Dyson DC 25 is known as the Dyson Ball because it is 1 of three vacuum cleaners in their upright range to have the new Ball technology which breaks the mold of how vacuum cleaners  move.

The Dyson DC18 Slim is another one of Dyson’s vacuums in their upright range.  The DC18 is also equipped with Dyson’s Cyclone technology, and an easy to use on/off switch for it’s brush head.  The DC18 slim vacuum doesn’t offer any models, but shares many of the same features of the DC25. The primary feature of the DC18 is that it is very lightweight when compared to other upright vacuum cleaners.

Similiarities

  • Dyson Cyclone
  • Hygienic Canister
  • Asthma & Allergy Friendly
  • Lifetime HEPA Filter
  • Brush Control
  • Collapsible Wand

Differences

  • The DC18 is Lighter
  • The DC25 uses the Ball Technology

Which vacuum is better?

The answer to that question is a very difficult one because the vacuums from a cleaning standpoint are almost identical.  What it comes down to are the features of each vacuum that factor into use.

The DC25 vacuum would be my choice if I were in the market for a new Dyson vacuum cleaner.  The DC25 is equipped with the ball technology which I absolutely love.  It makes moving around furniture, corners, and any obstacles on the floor extremely easy.  While the DC18 Slim is a great vacuum cleaner that I would also love to own my age and build don’t really factor into me needing a light weight vacuum cleaner, and I live in a ranch so I don’t have to lug it up and down stairs.

With that said though if you are older, smaller, or have a lot of stairs in your house the DC18 slim may be the right vacuum cleaner for you.  It simply makes your life easier when carrying and pushing it due to it’s light weight.

In summary, the decision really needs to be made to suite your personal needs.  The DC25 and the Dyson DC18 slim are both very efficient and powerful vacuums.

So you need to ask yourself do you need great manueverability? If so choose the Dyson DC25 Ball vacuum cleaner. Or Do you need a light weight vacuum?  If you do then go with the DC18

Dyson Ball Technology

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

About The Dyson Ball

The Dyson Ball is not an improvement on suction or power like the Dyson Cyclone technology is, instead the ball is an improvement on usability.

Using a vacuum cleaner is easy. That is a fact that really can’t be argued by anybody. So when James Dyson and his group of engineers set out to make the upright vacuum even more convenient they had quite the task on hand.

A vacuum cleaner is a pretty basic machine; it has a handle on top of a canister or bag which sits on top of a head with 2-4 wheels. Well The Dyson Ball changes that up a bit by replacing the wheels with a ball to improve maneuverability.

How The Dyson Ball Works

Above I mentioned that most vacuum cleaners are sitting on 2-4 wheels. The reason this doesn’t work well is because the wheels don’t swivel meaning that you can only move in two directions; forward and backward. The Dyson Ball however allows for maximum maneuverability because it rotates in all directions meaning the you can move any way you want to.

I’ve taken a minute to draw a simple example about what I mean in the diagram below.

the dyson ball

What it I am trying to illustrate above is that when you are boxed into a corner with a standard vacuum cleaner you must leave the area and then come at it again from a different direction in order to get rest of the surface. However when you are using the Dyson Ball you can simply change the vacuums direction my tilting you wrist and you can finish the job much more quickly and much easier.

Adding a technology like this to any other companies vacuums might slow them down or add weight because it makes for new problem. Where do you put the motor?

Well The Dyson Ball takes care of that as well as the ball itself house the motor which not only keeps any extra weight off, but lower the vacuums center of gravity adding even more maneuverability.

The History of The Dyson Ball

The idea for The Dyson Ball vacuum cleaner originated from one of James Dyson’s earlier inventions. In the late 1970′s Dyson invented a wheelbarrow known as the “Ball Barrow”.

The Ball barrow is very similar to the Dyson Ball upright vacuum in that it removes the use of a stationary wheel and replaces it with a ball that can easily be moved in any direction.

The ball barrow was one of Dyson’s earliest inventions and it has now dramatically affected the world of vacuum cleaners.

Where to find the Dyson Ball

The Dyson Ball Technology can be found on the Dyson DC24, The Dyson DC25 Animal, and the Dyson DC25 All floors models.

The Dyson Cyclone Technology

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

About The Dyson Cyclone

The Dyson Cyclone technology is the back bone of every Dyson Vacuum Cleaner.

The problem with most vacuum cleaners is that the more dirt, dust, hair, and junk you pick up the more suction you lose. This unfortunately means that by the time you are finished with 1 room the vacuum is losing its power and you are leaving stuff behind.

A normal vacuum cleaner uses a bag or filter that air is pulled through to catch any contaminents that it can.  The problem is that as the filter and bag get filled up the air flow is blocked by the dirt that it caught. This causes your vacuum to lose it’s suction power.

The Dyson upright and canister vacuum cleaners are different because they use a cyclone to push the dirt and contaminants down to the bottom of the canister freeing up the filter to do it’s job without getting gunked up.

What the Dyson Cyclone technology does is force air to perform a cycloning motion within the Dyson canister. Imagine a tornado; the vacuum is twisting and swirling the air around the canister in order to push what it has already picked up to the bottom keeping it away from the top of the canister making the filter free of any particles that may lead to a blockage.

The History of the Dyson Cyclone:

James Dyson is the man behind the machine. It was in the late 1970′s when Dyson though of the idea to apply centrifugal force to a vacuum cleaner. And with that thought he invented the world’s first cyclone vacuum.

After being constantly frustrated with the With his “Hoover Junior” inability to pick up dust without losing it’s suction James Dyson decided it was time to invent his own.

Over 5,000 prototypes later and a refusal to supply it form the European marketplace Dyson found the G-Force vacuum selling in catalogs in Japan. It wasn’t until 1986 that he received his first patent on the Dyson Cyclone technology but since then it has been nothing but success.

After most companies had rejected Dyson’s Cyclone and vacuum he decided to start his own manufacturer. Now Dyson is one of the leading brands of vacuums in the UK and in 2005 was considered to be a premier vacuum cleaner in the United States.

What Models Use The Dyson Cyclone

All current models of the Dyson upright vacuums use the cyclone technology to varying degrees. This includes the DC14, DC15, DC17 , DC24 & DC25. You will find the cyclone on older models like the DC07 as well, but since Dyson is a leader in research and development the Dyson Cyclone is enhanced with every new model.

Dyson DC25 Animal Upright Vacuum

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

The Dyson DC25 Animal is another model in Dyson’s extensive range of upright vacuum cleaners. The DC25 is the 3rd upright to be equipped with Dyson’s patented ball technology and is another top performer in their series of Animal vacuum cleaners.

The Dyson Ball technology makes these vacuums unique because it allows you to move gracefully around a room without having to make any jerky back and forth movements and even more importantly it means you never have to try and lift and turn your vacuum which could cause you some aches and pains during cleaning.

The reason the Dyson Ball makes vacuuming easy is pretty simple. Your standard vacuum cleaner sits on for wheels that don’t rotate meaning the you can only move the vacuum within a straight line. In order to turn your vacuum now you must use leverage and your whole body to move it. The Dyson DC25 Ball on the other hand sits on a ball instead of four wheels. For Example: Remove the mouse ball from your computer’s mouse and place your finger on top of it. Now roll it around try moving forward, backward, left, and right. It was very easy to move wasn’t it? The ball makes turning easy because you don’t need to pivot the vacuum or your body to do it, just change your wrist direction or in our example your finger’s direction and you are now moving on to a new room, around a couch, or a around table leg with very little work.

The Dyson DC25 Animal is great because it is easy to move around, but that really isn’t why you buy a vacuum is it? Probably not. You are probably looking for a vacuum that picks up everything and doesn’t clog up. Well all Dyson vacuum cleaners are manufactured with a high powered device to create strong and constant suction during the life of the vacuum cleaner.

The Dyson DC25 vacuum uses the Dyson Cyclone technology to provide it’s source of suction. The Dyson Cyclone technology that is the power source of this vacuum is unique because it allows you to vacuum up as much as you need to without ever losing any of the vacuums suction. The way the cyclone works is that rather than using a normal filter or bag that tries to block dust while continuing to suck through tiny holes that get clogged up the cyclone spins the dust and are around with large amounts of force pushing the dust to the bottom of the canister creating a longer more powerful suction.

Features are what make many people buy vacuum cleaners because well most vacuums aren’t all that different from one another. The Dyson DC25 animal on the other hand has already proven that it is different in two major ways it has more convenience and more power that most vacuums, but that isn’t all this vacuum has to offer.

Picking up animal hair is what this vacuum was built to do, and in order to do it better the people at Dyson added the mini turbine head which is an attachment that can be easily connected to the vacuum to remove hair from tight surfaces and upholstery, which means this vacuum is also great for getting the dog hair out of your car.

What I don’t like about most vacuums is that many are a pain to clean and you often find yourself getting the dust you just picked up all over your house again. The Dyson canister on the other hand is easy to empty and doesn’t get dust everywhere, it is also certified allergy and asthma friendly meaning that the HEPA filter catches allergens like pollen that some other vacuum cleaners may miss.

Different isn’t always good, but in the case of the Dyson DC25 Animal vacuum it is. Dyson is changing the way the vacuum looks and works and for the better. I would suggest reading through some of our other Dyson vacuum reviews and articles to see which Dyson upright vacuum is right for you.

Dyson DC25 All Floors Upright Vacuum

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

Vacuum cleaners were made with the intention of creating a convenient way for you to clean your house and they were for quite some time. Then the world started to change, houses got bigger, more furniture was added to them, and floor surfaces changed throughout the house, but all the while the way a vacuum was designed never did. The Dyson DC25 All Floors on the other hand has broken the mold by changing the way a full size upright vacuum cleaner moves.

The Dyson DC25 Ball is the second vacuum cleaner in Dyson’s upright range to be equipped with their new patented technology known as “ball technology”. What the ball provides is a unique way of adding complete directionality to a vacuum cleaner. What I mean is you are no longer required to move your vacuum in a straight line.

The ball is so easy to move; simply by turning your wrist you can instantly change the direction in which you are heading. What does this mean for you? Well it is simple if you see something to your left you can turn and pick it up without having to either turn your whole body, or putt along over to it in the normal forward and backward motion that our vacuum cleaners have had us accustomed to doing for years. The Dyson DC25 upright vacuum is really the first vacuum to have adjusted to the times that we live in.

But the DC25 vacuum cleaner isn’t just convenient it is powerful too. The DC25 is equipped with the patented cyclone technology that doesn’t ever loose suction, it has finger tip control over the brush heads, a collapsible and extending hose for cleaning the hard to reach places, and an easy to empty hygienic canister that is certified Asthma and Allergy Friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.

So what makes this model special? Well it is the brush head control which adds to the Dyson uniqueness. Having the ability to be able to turn your brush head off to protect your hard surfaces such as hardwood floors, ceramic tile, or your rugs without having to shut the vacuum off or without losing any power makes vacuum extremely convenient and efficient and able to work on every floor in your house.

The Dyson DC25 is a full sized upright vacuum so if you are anything like me it is a little to big for my needs. if you are looking for all of the unique features this vacuum has to offer but need a smaller more convenient version make sure you check out the Dyson DC24. The DC24 has all the same features as the 25 but at a lower cost and in a smaller package. The Dyson DC18 Slim is also a very popular model that you may be interested in checking out.

Dyson DC24 All Floors – Have A Ball

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

There are some upright vacuums that are good for picking up, some that are light weight, some that are easy to move around, but then their is the Dyson DC24 upright vacuum cleaner. The DC24 is hands down the best vacuum cleaner I have ever used, and it is currently the upright that is living in my closet at home and will probably outlast the closet which it is in.

The Dyson DC24 is another one of Dyson’s all floors vacuums in their upright range and as usual it is simply outstanding. What makes this vacuum special compared to the rest is how convenient everything about it is.

It all starts with the Dyson Cyclone technology that runs the core of the vacuum. The cyclone is used to create a higher more efficient method of suction that is guaranteed to keep from losing any of it’s suction power. The Cyclone is wrapped up by one of Dyson’s hygienic asthma and allergy friendly canisters that can hold quite a load even for this vacuums small stature. The canister is simple to empty as are all of the Dyson upright vacuums. Press the canister release button to remove it from the vacuum and the carry it to the nearest garbage can and press it again and the bottom of the canister gently pops open emptying the dirt and continents below.

The major technology breakthrough in the The Dyson DC24 Ball Vacuum is the “Ball” itself. This new breakthrough has changed the way the upright vacuums maneuver. The ball is your wheel and so instead of being able to move back and forward your vacuum can now move in any direction with a simple twitch of the wrist. I love this vacuum for this feature. I have a small home with a lot of furniture. The DC24 makes moving around it simple without having to stick to the old forward, back, turn, forward, back, turn motion that my old vacuum had me accustomed to doing. The ball allows for so much more. I am in, out, around corners without losing my momentum or having to create a little dance to do it.

Match that with the flexibility that Dyson has given the DC24 by providing it with the technology to vacuum on all floors and you almost have the perfect vacuum. The Dyson DC24 vacuum cleaner comes with a push button method of turning off your head’s brush so that you can easily clean your hard floors and rugs without ruining them. While still having the option of flicking it back on without turning off the vacuum if you need to go back and get the carpeted rooms.

The collapsible hose makes cleaning your couch, car and vertical blinds very easy, without any of the hassle normal hoses can provide.

The Dyson DC24 is an amazing vacuum and one of the cheapest in their line. If you are interested in getting the bang for your buck this vacuum has it all.
