Dyson Slim(tm) DC18 All Floors Vacuum

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

One of the lesser known, but far from the lower quality floor vacuums on the market has got to be the Dyson vacuum. Over the last year or so, they have begun to become known as one of the best possible choices and providers of high quality and innovation when it comes to technology and advancements in the vacuum industry. As part of this reputation, they have developed what is quickly becoming one of their most popular models known as the Dyson slim(tm) DC18 all floors vacuum.

With the ability to perform as well as any other upright vacuum on the market in it’s ability to pick up dirt and clean your floors while at the same time being about 4 pounds less in weight than other upright vacuums, this is certainly going to be one of the biggest names on the market. At around 16 pounds, the Dyson Slim DC 18 all floors vacuum is extremely easy to carry, push, and store.

This isn’t the only advantage this little advanced piece of cleaning technology has. The Dyson Slim(tm) DC18 all floors vacuum is a bagless vacuum with the typical Dyson features. Some of these features make it a very powerful performer and a difficult contender to keep up with in the vacuum industry.

Some of the features that the Dyson Slim DC18 all floors vacuum includes are:

  • A lifetime HEPA filter for helping to remove dust and allergy inducing particles from the air
  • It’s extremely lightweight and ergonomic
  • A wand that is expandable as well as retractable making for ease of use and reach
  • A canister that is amazingly easy to empty as well as one of the most hygienic on the market
  • Certified to be asthma friendly
  • A simple to use switch for using the brush accessory
  • Adjustable height making it much more comfortable to use for anyone of any height

The Dyson Slim(tm) DC18 all floors vacuum is one of the cleanest and most hypoallergenic cleaners available on the market. To help accomplish this goal, it comes standard with a lifetime HEPA filter to catch the smallest particles such as pollens, dust, and various other irritants for those who suffer from allergies. The filter simply requires monthly cleaning in order to maintain it’s ability to perform and keep your house free from allergy causing particles.

The Dyson DC18 all floors vacuum comes with some of the most technologically advanced and useful features found anywhere on the market. Another powerful feature is the wand. With it’s ability to extend and retract, this is one of the most convenient accessories ever offered on a cleaner of any type. Various other models have a long hose which wraps around the cleaner and often times falls off and gets in the way while you try to use it. The Dyson Slim(tm) DC18 all floors vacuum comes with the extend able wans which begins in the collapsed position and is only visible when you choose to use it which makes it much more convenient and avoids problems of the hose or wand getting in your way.

The ease of use, overall comfort, advanced technology, and powerful ability of this vacuum makes it almost impossible for anyone who purchases it and uses it to not fall in love. Dyson has done a fantastic job of designing and building an upright vacuum cleaner that is able to perform extremely well, offer amazing adjustments for comfort and ease of use, storage, and mobility, while being able to maintain a very high standard of cleanliness and allergy fighting features.

Dyson DC18 Accessories

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

I would have to say that one of the downsides to buying a Dyson vacuum is that they don’t come from the factory with very many accessories. Generally the vacuums will have 1 or 2 attachments in the box and that is it.

However it is not to say that Dyson doesn’t offer a great amount of accessories for each model of vacuum that they have. In fact The Dyson DC18 Accessories list is quite long. Let’s see what attachments and tools Dyson has to offer.

What is The Dyson Ball Asthma & Allergy?

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

I have recently seen a lot of people searching for the term Dyson Ball Asthma so I wrote this article to clear up a little confusion some may be having about the Dyson Ball vacuums. The Dyson Ball technology is currently available on two of the Dyson upright vacuums; the Dyson DC24 and the Dyson DC25. These two vacuums are almost identical in looks and functionality, except the DC25 is much larger than the DC24 and it comes in two different model types as opposed to just the All Floors model that the DC24 comes in.

Unfortunately neither of these vacuums is actually built as an Asthma & Allergy model, meaning that in reality there is technically no Dyson Ball Asthma that many of you have been searching for. But don’t be discouraged.

If the primary focus of your vacuum cleaner is to reduce allergen and asthma irritants, you might want to continue your search for a Dyson Asthma & Allergy model, but you don’t actually have to.

Every Dyson upright vacuum cleaner is actually certified asthma and allergy friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. This means that no matter which Dyson model you choose you will get the benefits of a vacuum that reduces asthma and allergy irritants.

So if you have your heart set on getting a Dyson Ball model feel reassured that even though the Dyson DC24 and DC25 don’t come specifically in a Dyson Ball Asthma & Allergy model type you will still be getting and seeing the results of an asthma and allergy friendly vacuum cleaner.

The Asthma & Allergy Model is currently available on the Dyson DC17.

Dyson DC18 vs. DC24

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

The Dyson DC18 and DC24 didn’t originally come across in my mind as two vacuums that should rightfully be compared because of how truly different they are in their nature. The DC18 is a full sized upright vacuum while the DC24 is not so I thought that they might not make good competition for one another. But today I consider myself mistaken because although the two vacuums are very different in size the both share one huge selling point; they are both extremely light weight.

Before I get into any more comparisons of the two though I think we should take a short look at what each individual vacuum has to offer. So let’s begin.

The Dyson DC18:

The DC18 is known as the slim vacuum because it is a full upright vacuum cleaner that weighs in less than 16lbs which is very light for a full sized up upright. This vacuum comes with all of Dyson’s standard amenities including the lifetime HEPA filter, the expanding wand, the Dyson Cyclone Technology, push button brush control, and a 5 year warranty that covers parts and service.

The Dyson DC24:

The DC24 is known as the ball vacuum, or at least one of the ball vacuums, because it is one of a few models that is equipped with the new Dyson Ball Technology. However unlike the other models that carry the ball name the DC24 is about half their size and weighs in at a measly 11.65lbs. And as usual the DC24 is equipped with an extending wand, a Dyson Cyclone, a HEPA filter, brush control, and a 5 years warranty.

The Dyson DC18 vs. DC24

Comparing a full sized upright to one that isn’t didn’t make much sense to me before I started to look at the details. The DC24 is not a full size vacuum so I thought that the comparison would be like the much fabled apples and oranges comparison that I have heard so much about. However it holds one very similar feature to the DC18; it is extremely light weight. So that is where the focus of this comparison is going to lie. If you want a better comparison for the DC18 please check out my article Dyson DC18 Slim vs. DC25.

As I stated before with the DC18 being a larger vacuum the normal comparisons quickly become unfair, but when it comes to size and portability the DC24 Ball actually blows the DC18 away. The Dyson DC18 slim weighs what will seem like a heavy 16lbs compared to the Dyson DC24’s 12lbs. The adjustable height on the DC24 makes storage and carrying much simpler, and the Ball technology that is attached to the DC24 makes maneuvering while vacuuming a breeze compared to the DC18 as well.

So if you want to compare suction, canister size, ability to pick up different types of messes I would suggest looking at 2 full size vacuums, but if you are looking for the best vacuum for it’s size and weight I would suggest the DC24.

Dyson DC17 vs. Dyson DC 25

Before I dive into my assessment on which of the Dyson DC models is the better of the two I highly recommend you take some time to read the more detailed explanations of the individual vacuums that I have written about each model as they might be a better indicator of which vacuum is right for you.

More information on the Dyson DC17 and the Dyson DC25.

About the Dyson DC17 & DC25:

The Dyson DC17 & DC25 are both upright models in Dyson’s range of vacuum cleaners. Each vacuum is offered in both the Dyson Animal and the Dyson Asthma and Allergy styles. They are both also equipped with a life-time HEPA filter, finger tip brush control, extending wand, hygienic canister, 5 year warranty of parts and service, and an ergonomic handle for carrying.

What makes the two vacuum cleaners different is the new techonology that has been added the the DC25. The DC25 is equipped with the Dyson Ball technology that make a vacuum easy to move in it’s nature. Most vacuums are on a rigid frame that only allows for forward and backward movements, and the DC25 isn’t. The Dyson Ball lets you move in any direction by simply turning your wrist the direction that you want to go.

Dyson DC17 vs. Dyson DC25 Results:

The Dyson DC25 Ball vacuum cleaner is the cleaner that I would prefer to own because I love the Dyson Ball technology. Both vacuum cleaners come in Dyson Animal and Dyson Asthma and Allergy Models, Both are equipped with the Dyson Cyclone technology, and both have the hygienically easy to empty canister, meaning that the vacuums actually have very few differences in the way the operate and pick up dirt and dust.

The decision to go with the DC25 is then completely based on my personal enjoyment of the ball technology that makes maneuverability easy. I currently am using the Dyson DC24 in my home which is the DC25′s little brother. The DC24 is an exact replica of the DC25 but it is smaller in stature. With my experience using the ball I have found that is does everything that they say it does and anybody that has a tight space or a lot of furniture could really benefit from using it.

However choosing the right Dyson for you can be a difficult tasks as each model has great benefits and could possess the trait that you need, so I suggest you keep looking and maybe even check out our comparison of the DC18 Slim vs the DC25.

Dyson DC18 Slim

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

The Dyson vacuum cleaner has been looked at over the last year as one of the best providers of quality and innovative technology in the industry. One of the most popular of their vacuums is the Dyson DC18 Slim upright vacuum which has the ability to pick up as well if not better than any other upright vacuum on the market while being light weight and easy to use. The DC18 weighs 16lbs which is about 4 lbs less that Dyson’s other upright vacuums making it much easier to carry, push, and put away.

But the weight of the Dyson DC18 Slim isn’t the only feature that this vacuum has. Dyson has built this bagless vacuum with their usual array of features making it a very powerful performer.

The Dyson DC18 Slim Features:

  • A Lifetime HEPA Filter
  • Lightweight & Ergonomic
  • A Expandable and Retractable Wand
  • A Hygienic and Easy Empty Canister
  • Asthma Friendly Certification
  • A Toggle Switch For Brush Use
  • Adjustable Height

The Dyson DC18 is equipped with a lifetime HEPA filter to catch the smallest particles like pollen which are major irritants for allergy sufferers. The filter simply needs to be clean once a month with warm water and it should keep your house clean and your vacuum running well for years to come.

The DC18 upright is lightweight at only 15.8lbs making it very easy to use, without hurting your back in the very least. One of Dyson’s best features is that most of their vacuums are equipped with ergonomic handles to make moving and storing you vacuum much easier, because you no longer need to carry them around in a manner they weren’t meant to be carried in.

Most vacuum cleaners come with a “wand” or tube that wraps around them for which you can use to clean your furniture, your car, or your blinds. While most of them like to fall off while you are vacuuming or get int the way by getting caught on a corner or a door handle the Dyson DC18 Slim‘s want doesn’t. The people at Dyson have added the extend able wand which starts in the collapse position and is only seen when you want to see it. This means that it isn’t falling all over the place or getting caught on anything. Just release the vacuums handle and extend the tube and you can get everything those other vacuums can but without the eyesore or the inconvenience.

The DC18 Slim vacuum is a bagless cleaner which means that it has a canister and not the bag you may be used to. Sometimes people can be a little weary about getting a bagless vacuum because they can be difficult to empty and clean, but not the Slim. The canister on all Dyson’s are certified asthma and allergy friendly and are completely hygienic because they allow for easy emptying in which you don’t have to touch the dirt. To empty the canister on the DC18 all you have to do is push a button so you never get your hands dirty or accidentally dump anything out while trying to mess with a difficult to open canister like some vacuums have.

The last two features Dyson DC18 All Floors has are a toggle switch that allows you to turn your brushes on and off so that you can protect your hard floors from scratches when you are vacuuming over them, and an adjustable height handle to make cleaning easy no matter how short or tall you are. These are really great because they add convenience to your chores. Instead of having to get out your broom you can get the dirt off of your tiled floors without worry about damaging them by turning off the brushes on your vacuum. And instead of trying to crouch down or lift your arm up you can adjust the handle to make cleaning comfortable for you.

The Dyson DC18 Slim is only one of Dyson’s many upright vacuums. If you are not sure which vacuum is right for you please take a look at the articles below as they may be of some help.
