The Dyson Animal vs. Dyson Slim

If you found this article helpful, please spread the word.

The Dyson Animal

The Dyson Animal is a model type made specifically for picking up animal hair and pet dander. All of the models that are labeled Animal are equipped with a Dyson Root Cyclone TM, An extending wand, brush control, a lifetime HEPA filter, and a 5 year warranty, and a mini turbine head. The mini turbine head is an attachment that allows for maximum removal of pet hair from dense fabrics and upholstery and is also great for use in a car.

The Dyson Slim

The Dyson Slim is a model type made specifically for convenience. There is currently only 1 Dyson upright that is known as the “slim” and it is the DC18. The Slim model is also equipped with a Dyson Root Cyclone TM, An extending wand, brush control, a lifetime HEPA filter, and a 5 year warranty. However instead of having a mini turbine head that is great for picking up pet hair the DC18 slim has been engineered to weigh in less than 16lbs making the vacuum one of the lightest full size upright vacuums on the market.

The Dyson Animal vs. Dyson Slim

In my opinion these two models do not have enough similarities to make a strong comparison because they serve separate purposes. One vacuum in meant to provide better suction and power for houses that have animals, and the other vacuum is meant to be lightweight and easy to maneuver for those that don’t want the bulk of a standard full sized upright model.

If you are looking to compare two different Dyson models I would suggest you start by comparing two of the same kind or at least to models that serve a similar purpose. For example I think a better comparison would be: DC17 Animal vs. DC25 Animal or the DC24 vs. the DC25. The reason being is that when comparing an Animal vacuum to a slim vacuum you are basically forced to ignore their main features. By that I mean comparing the ability to pick up pet hair vs. weight isn’t a very strong search criteria.

When considering these two models I would ask myself one question. Do I want a vacuum that is lightweight or one that is designed to pick up after animals?
